Didn't Recieve a Food Voucher? Find out if You're Eligible!

The Ministry of the Interior, in collaboration with local municipalities has begun distributing food vouchers for those who are eligible:

1. Residents who receive an arnona deduction in 2020 or 2021 for income reasons at a rate of 70% or more.

2. Senior citizens who receive an income support benefit (Bituach Leumi), and receive an arnona discount in 2021 at a rate of 100%

Exceptions: Those who live in an institution where they receive food and basic needs, such as a nursing home, army, or prisoners will not be eligible for the vouchers. 

People who are already registered with their local municipality will AUTOMATICALLY receive their rechargeable smart vouchers. 

A resident of Beit Shemesh, who is registered in the population register in Beit Shemesh, and is not automatically entitled to receive food stamps, can submit an application to check their eligibility for food stamps. Eligibility will be approved subject to passing the income checks according to the the Ministry of the Interior guidelines and attaching all the required documents. An application without appropriate documents will be rejected immediately. The application form is intended only for Beit Shemesh residents with ID numbers, who are registered in the Beit Shemesh population registry.

According to the guidelines of the Ministry of the Interior, all of the reported information and documents will be checked carefully. Anyone found to have submitted false data will not be entitled to food stamps and may even be subject to  criminal charges.  

A resident who is registered with another municipality must submit an application to the same municipality in which he is registered.

The deadline for submitting an application for food stamp eligibility is the 17 Iyar 574/  29.4.2021 and whoever is found eligible by then will receive the loaded card.

Whoever is found eligible will receive all the previous vouchers retroactively.  

Applying for food stamp eligibility does not qualify for a tax deduction for income reasons. A separate application for a discount for income reasons must be submitted on the municipality's website.

Those who are found eligible will receive the rechargeable food vouchers directly to their home  by a courier on behalf of the Eshel Jerusalem Association on behalf of the Ministry of the Interior.The Minister of Interior is responsible for distributing the vouchers to the residents and not the local municipality. The amount of eligibility is determined by the Ministry of the Interior. The amount of assistance charged on the card is NIS 300 for each spouse, and NIS 225 for each child living with the eligible person, up to a ceiling of NIS 2,400 per household, per distribution dates.

A total of three distribution dates are expected. The manner of exercising eligibility is published on the Ministry of the Interior's website. Food and basic products can be purchased with the card loaded. Alcohol, tobacco and electricity products cannot be purchased with the card
