Mayor Bloch revokes power of Seven City Council Members

A number of council members received a letter this morning (Sunday) revoking their delegation of powers from Mayor Dr. Aliza Bloch, according to the municipality's spokesperson. The dismissed are members of the Agudat Israel, Degel HaTorah and Likud parties.

This is what the mayor wrote in a letter to council members: "The city of Beit Shemesh is a city of diverse communities seeking to uphold the right to life with respect for each community alongside each other. From a common and future vision of the city of Beit Shemesh, I entrusted you with various powers to strengthen and develop the city of Beit Shemesh in different areas.

Out of responsibility for the future of the city of Beit Shemesh, and in accordance with section 17 of the Local Authorities Law - I am informing you that I have decided that within 48 hours of sending this letter, all the powers I delegated to you will be revoked.

I made this decision with a heavy heart and out of responsibility for the future of the city of Beit Shemesh. I continue to see the path of partnership and the common good as a worldview in city management. My door is open and my ears are attentive to those who want to take part in it with the intention of truth. "

The council members who received the letter of dismissal are Avraham Frankel and Shimon Goldberg from Agudat Yisrael, Yisrael Silberstein and Shlomo Brilant from Degel Hatorah, and Moshe Shitrit, Shalom Edri and Tzvi Wolicki from the Likud.
