Description

In a draft of a letter to be sent to school principals in preparation for young children potentially going back to school this Sunday, the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Defense came together explaining how going back to school during the Corona virus pandemic will look.

Reminder: This is a draft that was approved by the cabinet, however, the decision of going back to school on Sunday is conditional by another assessment scheduled for tomorrow (Friday).

The letter advised the principals to inform the parents of the changes that will be made in a clear and informative manner. They recommended hosting a Zoom session.

Before going back to school, the school building will be sanitized and desks/seating areas will be organized with 2 meters between each desk and, only one student at each desk. The school will be responsible to hang up clear signs that show how to properly wash your hands, the proper way to wear a mask, etc. The school will be responsible to keep the school clean, sanitize the bathrooms twice a day, check students for fever, etc.

The schools will contact parents and explain the new guidelines for students and how they should pass them on to their children.
Ganim: Regarding children in Gan, it is highly recommended that the Ganenet meet with parents over Zoom to visually explain how to teach young children to keep a physical distance from one another and to practice good hygiene.

Parents will sign a declaration of health on behalf of their children, without it the child will not be permitted to return to school.

Parents of children that can't come to school (because of health or any other reason) should notify the school as soon as possible.

Children in Ganim will learn in groups of up to 9 children, students in grades 1-3 will learn in groups of up to 15 children (these numbers may change).

In school, children will be encouraged to wash their hands multiple times a day. They will only eat at their desks, on a napkin or towel that will be changed daily. All leftovers will be thrown away, at the end of the meal the children will clean their desks (if they have the ability to do so) and will wash their hands. When the students return from recess they will wash their hands.

Regarding children in Gan, the Ganenet will assign specific toys to each group of children so that they don't mix.

Children must wear a face mask in public spaces from the age of 7+. Children and staff members must come to school wearing a face mask. In the classroom- only the teacher will wear a mask. Outside of the classroom- children over the age of 7 will wear a mask (including recess). Staff working with children in Gan do not need to wear face masks while indoors, when going outside they must wear masks.

Students will take recess in shifts, only with the same group of students. They will not be permitted to play ball.

Students will not be permitted to share school supplies, food or drinks.
