Accordion Buses to Start on Local Routes

Have you seen an accordion bus with Superbus's logo driving around Beit Shemesh?

Good news for residents of Beit Shemesh! This coming week accordion buses will come into service and start driving the local routes. An accordion bus is a long bus with a pivot in the middle. That allows it to be longer, and still be able to turn around corners.

After an initial period of testing Superbus plans to add additional accordion buses to the routes in hope to ease the overload of passengers and lack of buses that local residents have been suffering from for a long while. A bus like this can fit 100 passengers and has 3 doors making ascending and descending quicker and more efficient, it also allows easy access for wheelchairs and a place for them to sit.

In addition theses buses have payment stations by the back doors allowing passengers to get on and swipe their Rav Kav without having to go to the front of the bus.

Superbus is in the final stages of negotiating with the ministry of transportation about the expansion and upgrade of the cities bus services. The company will be training its drivers to navigate the roads with the accordion bus and may be adjusting some of the routes. Once the training period has passed successfully the company plans to add about 20 more of these buses in the coming months.
