Description

After a particularly complex year, in which the education system was forced to function remotely, yesterday (Sun) it was fully opened. In light of the significant decline of the infection numbers, the government decided to approve the proposal of the Ministry of Health and Education and to allow the educational institutions to return to a full routine. At the same time, the obligation to wear masks in open areas was abolished.

Even in Beit Shemesh, where all the educational institutions are fully

operational, without capsules, however, the students will still wear masks in the classes that take place in the classrooms.
Mayor Dr. Aliza Bloch wrote to the education teams:

"Dear school principals and education staff.
After a long period of changing reality, the State of Israel returns this morning to an almost normal routine. After the economy in Israel returned to full operation, the education system will also return to full operation without capsules, in their physical classrooms while enforcing the requirement of wearing masks and keeping closed spaces well ventilated.
Lately the vocabulary of all of us from kindergarten to twelfth grade has been replete with words like zoom, capsules, distance learning and more. This discourse derived from the outbreak of the pandemic has deepened the insecurity and instability among our students and also among us. Restoring stability is our first goal as we return to routine. Restoring the confidence of students in education staff. The ability to make children internalize that we have now returned to regular learning is a challenge and I have no doubt that you will be able to take on this challenge.
Our focus is not on the amount of material the students will cover. Do not worry about another chapter in the history book or another equation in mathematics. We will find ways to make up the material that we haven't covered yet. It is important for us to listen to our students these days. The effects of the Coronavirus have not ended. It is possible that our children carry with them difficulties from home. We will support our students through these difficulties as they arise.
We believe in you and know that you will know how to balance the creation of a meaningful learning experience with the strengthening of our student's confidence and trust in restoring routine.
I would like to thank you for days full of initiative and creativity. For days you knew how to make the impossible our new normal.
The staff of the director of education in the municipality, the head of the director of education, Ms. Sheri Dror, the deputy mayor and the director of education, Rabbi Yeshayahu Ernreich, and I are here for you for any question and any deliberation.
Dr. Aliza Bloch
Mayor."
