No Entry Limit to Meron This Lag B'Omer

Only a week and a half before Lag B'Omer, the Holy Sites Authority of the Ministry of Religious Affairs is optimistic that the annual celebrations in Meron are expected to take place without any participant restrictions this year.

After many discussions in recent weeks with government officials, as well as police, health and medical authorities, the Holy Sites Authority announced that the bonfire lightings in Meron are expected to take place as they do every year - without participant limitations, as were last year.

At the same time, the authority clarified that this is the current plan set in place, but may change if they receive differing last-minute instructions from health and government officials.

The authority added that despite numerous requests submitted by the Holy Sites Authority themselves, as well as direct inquiries from various charities - the Ministry of Health still has not approved the distribution of cooked food in open plates, catering tents and distribution booths. At this point they have only permitted the distribution of personal pre-packaged cakes and drinking bottles.

In the next few days, the Authority of Holy Sites will fully publish the arrival arrangements and parking lots in the Meron area, for buses from all over the country as well as for private car owners. The authority emphasized that they will be placing public transportation at their top priority.

Finally, the authority emphasized that entrance to the Meron Lag B'Omer celebrations will be granted to green tag holders, due to the requirements of the Ministry of Health.
