Description

Following the removal of restrictions approved by the government and the gradual return to routine, Minister of Transportation and Road Safety, Miri Regev, ordered Israel Railways to reopen the Ben Gurion Airport train station to full operation, starting this Thursday, April 22nd.

Minister of Transportation, Miri Regev noted that, "the opening of the train station at Ben Gurion Airport will allow for comfortable and fast travel for the thousands of passengers who take off and land daily at Ben Gurion Airport and the hundreds of workers at the port."

The opening of the Ben Gurion Airport train station follows a reported increase in the number of train journeys and a significant increase in the volume of activity at Ben Gurion Airport. The two lines that travel through the station, Modiin-Nahariah and Herziliyah-Jeruslaem Yitzchak Navon, will resume their regular schedule.

Train passengers at Ben Gurion Airport will be required to issue train tickets, in the same manner employed at all other train stations. Coronavirus guidelines will be enforced by officials, travelers will be required to wear a mask in the station and on the train, social distance and will be limiting train occupancy.

It should be noted that according to the guidelines, returnees to Israel who are required to quarantine upon return to the country, are not permitted to use public transportation services, including Israel Railways.

Minister Regev: "I am happy that, finally, thanks to the joint effort of the whole country, and the extensive vaccination campaign, we are gradually returning to routine, and with it, public transportation is gradually returning."
