Yesterday the city hosted Uri Maklev, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Office who is responsible for Developing the Charedi sector.
Maklev signed an agreement for Economic-Social Development for the Haredi Community
The agreement includes significant budgets for economic development and improving essential services in the city. The government cooperation is aimed at providing a comprehensive response to the needs of the developing city.
As part of the agreement, signed with the Authority for Economic-Social Development in the Haredi Sector, a total budget of 1.6 million NIS will be allocated to the Beit Shemesh Municipality, with 90% government funding and the employment of a dedicated project coordinator.
As a result of the agreement, residents of the city will benefit from significant improvements in municipal services and infrastructure in areas such as informal education, professional training, social programs, and access to legal services. Additionally, training will be provided in fields like employment, technology, and social skills, alongside the initiation of projects that will strengthen community partnerships in the city.
Deputy Minister Uri Maklev said "We are making history with this agreement. This program brings significant budgets aimed at the economic development of the Haredi community, while strengthening municipal services and infrastructure in the city to ensure a real improvement in the quality of life for residents."
The Deputy Minister noted that the cooperation between government ministries stems from the understanding that the Ministry for Haredi Sector Development recognizes the unique needs of the community, which is why it was given broad powers to act accordingly.
Mayor Shmuel Greenberg said "I thank the Deputy Minister for the investment and for the strategic partnership for the benefit of Beit Shemesh. This agreement is an important step toward a better employment future for the Haredi community in the city."
