Description

Today, Wednesday July 1st, the Israeli Tax Authority will transfer 400,000,000 nis to the bank accounts of 100,000 employees and self-employed persons who qualify for the 2019 Maanak Avoda, following the announcement by Finance Minister Yisrael Katz   to advance the grant in a one-time payment. The grants will appear in people’s bank accounts tomorrow.

The grants that were transferred today in one payment,  instead of the usual four separate payments, in July 2020, October 2020, December 2020 and February 2021, were given to anyone who applied for the grant by June 29, 2020.

Starting next week, the Israel Tax Authority will transfer the entire amount of the grant every Wednesday (which will appear in people’s bank account on Thursday)  to those who apply by Sunday that week and qualify for the grant.

The decision to consolidate and advance grant payments came in light of the economic hardship that many people are facing as a result of the spread of the Coronavirus and is intended to facilitate a cash flow for those eligible for the grant, some of whom have been put on unpaid leave or have had to close their businesses for a long period of time.

For the year 2019, the grant will be paid, subject to compliance with the law and in accordance with the criteria, for those who among other things, their average monthly income exceeds NIS 1,290 and reaches NIS 11,650. The maximum grant amount is 8,820 NIS. The average grant is estimated at about 3,700 NIS.

The Tax Authority says that applying for a grant is simple and easy and that if you have applied for a grant in the last two years, you can apply online.

If you have never applied before, you need to go to the Post Office with your teudat zehut (ID card) and an Israeli check. The clerk will fill out most of the form for you and ask you a few questions. You will sign the form and take home the top half.

If Bituach Leumi has determined that you qualify, the money will be deposited directly until your bank account. Either way, you will receive a letter from them detailing to you if you qualified or not, the reason why, and how much and when you will receive the money.
