Description

The EU announced today that Israel will not be included in the list of countries that would be allowed to enter the EU without quarantining.

The EU has published a list of countries that are not members of the EU but whose citizens can enter the EU countries without needing to go into quarantine. Much to the disappointment of many Israelis, Israel is not included in the list.

Up until a few weeks ago, Israel was considered a country that was handling the coronavirus well, but the numbers have since continued to climb.

The EU's statement explicitly states that Israeli citizens will not be able to enter the Union's countries at this time, along with American, Russian, Saudi and Turkish citizens, all countries where there has been a significant outbreak of the Coronavirus. Chinais an exception to this ruling, and its citizens will be able to enter the Union's countries if the decision is mutual.

Among the countries whose citizens will be able to enter the Union countries are Australia, Algeria, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia and Uruguay.

One of the countries in the EU is Greece, a country that many Israelis were hoping that they'd be able to visit in summer vacation. However, it looks like that isn't going to be an option.

It should be noted that the decision could change as soon as Israel sees improvement in it's data: "According to unofficial reports, the Commission has established a list of 15 countries (out of 54 discussed) that will be allowed to come into the EU without special restrictions beginning July 1st. The list is expected to be updated every two weeks."
