For the start of the new school year, the National Insurance Institute will pay the annual Back-to-School Grant on August 11th 2025.

The 'Maanak Limudim' grant is 1,176 NIS per child this year. It is intended to assist families in preparing for the upcoming school year, such as purchasing books, notebooks, bags, etc.

The National Insurance Institute pays the grant to single-parent families and families with four or more children, who receive subsistence allowances (income support, alimony, disability and senior citizens).

The grant is paid for each child between the ages of 6 and 18, and will be transferred directly to the  bank account of registered parents, for children born between 1st January 2008 and 31st December 2019. There may be eligibility for the grant even if the child was not born on these dates, and is in the first or twelfth grade.

The grant is paid automatically to the bank account of those registered as eligible. The payment is deposited in the account of the parent who receives the monthly child allowance, and whose children are living with them.

How do you get the grant? If you received it last year, your details are on record and you will automatically receive the money directly to your account on August 11th.

If you are a parent whose family situation has recently changed, you may now be eligible to receive the grant. You should apply via the Bituach Leumi website, or at the local branch. For example: A parent who has recently changed status to a single parent, or a parent who is separated from their partner and is in the process of divorce. In addition to these, a single parent (or widowed), an Agunah woman, or a woman staying in a shelter for abused women.
