Beit Shemesh Now Eligible for Private Gun Licenses

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has approved Beit Shemesh as an eligible locality for private firearm licenses under the government’s expanded gun licensing reform.

This means that residents of most parts of Beit Shemesh can now apply for a private firearm license based on where they live, as long as they meet all the other requirements and complete the legal licensing process.

The decision was made following a review by the Israel Police and the Firearms Licensing and Supervision Division.

Which areas are excluded?

The new eligibility applies across Beit Shemesh, except for certain streets in Ramat Heftziba and Ramat Beit Shemesh Bet.

Residents of all other streets and neighborhoods in Beit Shemesh are included.

What does this mean?

If you live in an eligible area, you can now apply for a private firearm license based on your place of residence.

However, living in an eligible area does not guarantee a license. Applicants must still meet all other requirements and complete the official licensing process.

Part of a nationwide reform

The Beit Shemesh decision is part of a wider expansion of Israel’s private firearm licensing reform.

More than 200 localities have reportedly been added to the eligibility list, and around 300,000 citizens have received private firearm licenses.

Minister Ben Gvir said the reform gives eligible citizens another way to protect themselves and their families, and that he plans to continue expanding it.
