On Sunday, the municipality held an event in Eshkol HaPais to celebrate the STEM achievements of several schools in Beit Shemesh, and the development of STEM education in the city in general, through educational events, STEM summer camps, and the like.
The event was split into three segments. In the morning, there was a science fair where students from 31 different schools presented their work. In the afternoon, there was an event open to people of all ages with a variety of workshops and an interactive show. The event was attended by around 400 parents and children. In the evening, there was a hackathon for initiatives to promote STEM in schools.
The science fair winners were:
First place: Ahavat Yisrael Boys, with an automatic sorting system for recyclables
Second place: Tali Yitzchak Navon, with an irrigation system for a school butterfly garden
Third place: Orot, with a sensor system to promote hygiene in bathrooms
