Beit Shemesh continues to expand: Creating a new neighborhood - Ramat Beit Shemesh Vav!
RBS Vav1 is promoted by the Ministry of Construction and Housing in the eastern part of the city, it includes the construction of approximately 2,800 apartments, as well as 120,000 square meters of commercial space. An antiquities complex in the heart of the neighborhood will be developed as an open public space.
As part of the program promoted by the Ministry of Construction and Housing, approximately 2,800 apartments will be built in the neighborhood. The plan also includes 120,000 square meters of commercial space.
The location of the new neighborhood is in the East of Beit Shemesh, on the open slopes between the existing city neighborhoods (Cheftziba), the cemetery and Moshav Zanoach and the 'back road' 3855. According to the plan, most of the construction will be 9-story residential buildings. The total area of the planned neighborhood is 660.8 dunams. In addition, the plan includes a bus terminal near road 3855. In the future, RBS V2 and V3 are planned for the other side of the road.
The plan includes a network of streets connecting the existing neighborhoods and entrances to the city, and there will be a central commercial street convenient for pedestrians and cyclists. Also, the plan includes a set of public open spaces linking the city and its eastern part, which includes nature areas, streams and the exit from the city. Within the new neighborhood, an 'antiquities area' will be developed as part of a central public open area.
The city of Beit Shemesh has been in a major construction boom in recent years, and it is expected to continue to grow. Last June, a tender held by the Ministry of Housing and the Israel Land Authority for the city was successfully closed, in which 2,720 apartments were sold, of which 80% (2,175 units) will be sold as discounted apartments for first-time home buyers in the 'apartment at a discount' lottery.
Also, last July it was reported that the District Committee in Jerusalem approved a plan to expand the Sorek-Nahum industrial area in Beit Shemesh, in collaboration with the Beit Shemesh Municipality. The plan includes approximately 204,000 square meters for employment, approximately 16,800 square meters for commerce and 6,000 square meters for public buildings.
