Beit Shemesh Marks Holocaust Remembrance Day
Beit Shemesh marked Yom HaShoah with a central ceremony dedicated to the theme of the Jewish family during the Holocaust. Last night's event brought together residents, Holocaust survivors, and city officials at the city's Cultural Center.
Speakers shared powerful stories of loss, survival, and continuity under unimaginable conditions.
The ceremony featured music, readings, and performances by local ensembles, alongside the lighting of six memorial torches.
A special presentation highlighted personal family stories from the Holocaust, stressing the importance of preserving memory across generations.
City leaders spoke about unity, strength, and drawing hope from the past, emphasizing the responsibility to remember, honor survivors, and ensure a strong future for the next generations.
Mayor Shmuel Greenberg said "In the difficult days we are going through, we did not come just to gather in sadness. We came to hear your story, to draw strength and even hope from you. Even in the darkest places - the people of Israel knew how to hold on to life."
🕯️May the memory of the victims be blessed.
