Beit Shemesh is preparing for the future growth of its education system. Mayor Shmuel Greenberg presented a five-year plan to the Ministry of Education focused on expanding educational facilities and addressing the city’s growing need for additional classrooms.
The planning meeting that took place (Tuesday 07.07) included Mayor Shmuel Greenberg, Education Commissioner and Deputy Mayor Yitzchak Elmalich, City Manager Eliad Abramczyk, Chief of Staff Avi Meyers, and Yigal Tzarfati, Director of the Ministry of Education’s Department for Development of Education Systems.
During the meeting, officials discussed ways to reduce the shortage of classrooms in the city and presented a long-term plan for building additional educational facilities based on current and future needs.
Currently, 230 new classrooms are under construction ahead of the upcoming school year, with approximately 100 classrooms expected to be completed and ready for use at the start of the school year.
The city has also developed a five-year education plan together with school administrators, focusing on long-term planning and ensuring that new classrooms and schools are built where they are needed most.
Mayor Greenberg said the city is working to ensure that the education system grows alongside the city’s rapid development and that students receive the facilities they need.
Deputy Mayor and Education Commissioner Yitzchak Elmalich added that the city presented a clear work plan for the coming years, designed around the real needs of schools and students throughout Beit Shemesh.
