Mayor Shmuel Greenberg and city officials toured Rambam, Jabotinsky and Hachalutzim streets and nearby alleys as part of the city’s “Street in Focus” program. The tour looked at street cleanliness, maintenance, public spaces and the need for closer supervision of construction work and waste removal.
At the end of last week, Beit Shemesh Mayor Shmuel Greenberg led a tour of the Old City neighborhood as part of the municipality’s “Street in Focus” program. Participants included City CEO Eliad Abramchik, senior Operations Department officials, the Engineering Department’s head of implementation, and the head of the city’s public space maintenance department.
The tour covered Rambam, Jabotinsky and Hachalutzim streets, along with nearby alleys. The goal was to assess the condition of the streets and public spaces, review cleanliness and maintenance, and follow up on issues raised by local residents.
Reviewing street cleanliness, sidewalks and lighting
During the tour, officials inspected the streets and public walkways, cleaning and pruning work, and areas where waste had accumulated. They also reviewed the condition of sidewalks and street lighting.
Another focus was the need for closer supervision of construction projects and building extensions in the area, particularly to ensure that construction waste is properly removed.
Mayor Greenberg also heard about concerns raised by residents regarding their quality of life in the neighborhood. Participants discussed practical challenges faced by municipal work crews, including difficulty accessing narrow passageways, which can make cleaning and maintenance work more complicated.
Following the tour, Greenberg instructed the relevant municipal departments to address the issues raised and coordinate their work. The aim is to improve ongoing street maintenance and cleanliness and respond to problems affecting the public spaces in the neighborhood.
Mayor Greenberg: “We will step up ongoing work in the neighborhood”
Mayor Shmuel Greenberg said: “We continue to closely monitor cleanliness and ongoing maintenance throughout the city. I have asked for more regular attention to the public spaces in the Old City neighborhood, improvements in cleanliness, and closer monitoring of construction waste removal. We will continue working to protect the neighborhood’s environment.”
The tour is part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to monitor street conditions, identify problems, promote solutions and improve quality of life for residents of the Old City.
