The Population and Immigration Authority is urging the public to help elderly family members renew expired ID cards. An expired ID card can cause difficulties when dealing with government or public institutions, including banks and online government services.
If your parents, grandparents, or older relatives have old or worn-out ID cards, now is the time to check if they are still valid.
If you have an old ID card, if your ID was issued before 2013, or if you received an SMS saying your ID has expired, now is the time to schedule an appointment and renew it.
All old ID cards must be replaced with biometric ID cards, which are valid for 10 years. The expiration date is printed on the front of biometric cards. Once an ID expires, it can no longer be used for official purposes, and may result in service disruptions.
To avoid last-minute problems, the authority recommends scheduling an appointment in advance at a Population Authority office.

Select “Apply for a biometric passport or ID card” and book an appointment for the date and time that suits you.
💙 You can also book an appointment at one of the self-service kiosks - there is one in Cofix in RBS A, and one in the lobby of the Iriyah in Naimi. Choose: רשות האוכלוסין וההגירה.
