A “Street in Focus” tour was held this week in the Cheftziba neighborhood as part of the Beit Shemesh Municipality’s weekly focus on different areas of the city.

Mayor Shmuel Greenberg, Deputy Mayor and Public Works portfolio holder Chanoch Drenger, City CEO Eliad Abramchik, and senior municipal staff toured the neighborhood to see the needs and problems firsthand.

The tour focused on several streets and areas, including Tzedakah Street, the walkway connecting to Ben Ish Chai Street, Chefetz Chaim Street and Yosef Karo Street. The team looked at problems with sidewalks and walkways, construction waste and other issues identified in the area.

The main news for residents is a ₪2.5 million improvement plan for the neighborhood, with work expected to begin in the coming weeks.

The plan includes repairing and replacing sidewalks, upgrading the public park, addressing hazards and improving the overall appearance of the neighborhood.

Mayor Shmuel Greenberg said the work will include improvements to the sidewalks, public park and infrastructure. He also instructed municipal teams to follow up on garbage collection times and address other issues identified during the tour.

“We still have work to do here, and we want the neighborhood to be clean and well maintained,” Greenberg said.

Deputy Mayor and Public Works portfolio holder Chanoch Drenger said that one of the main areas being addressed is Tzedakah Street, which is used every day by thousands of children and residents.

“This will improve quality of life and make the neighborhood look better,” Drenger said.

The tour was also attended by managers from the Municipal Operations Department, Public Works Department, Engineering Department, the 106 Municipal Hotline and the neighborhood management team.
