Beit Shemesh Prepares for Sukkot: Arba'at HaMinim Markets to Be Organized in City Commercial Centers

In preparation for the upcoming holiday of Sukkot, the Beit Shemesh Municipality is leading a comprehensive initiative this year to regulate the sale of the Arba'at HaMinim (Four Species) across the city. The goal is to provide residents with a convenient, organized shopping experience, support local commerce, and prevent unauthorized street pop-ups in public spaces.

Following a planning meeting between commercial center managers and Municipal Director-General Eliad Abramchik, it was agreed that the main Arba'at HaMinim markets will operate directly within local commercial centers. This is a collaborative effort between the municipality and management teams at major centers, including Sun Mall (at the entrance to Ramat Beit Shemesh D) and HaShdera Mall (on Menachem Porush Street).

Shopping center management teams will coordinate vendor operations and designate dedicated, organized vendor spaces, ensuring public order, accessibility, and ample parking facilities for shoppers.

Moving vendor activity into structured hubs replaces unregulated street stalls on sidewalks and open public areas, helping maintain city cleanliness ahead of the holiday while offering residents a broad selection in a centralized setting with nearby amenities and restrooms.

Municipal officials emphasize that alongside resident convenience, this initiative is designed to bolster year-round local businesses and provide a clear, supportive framework for local vendors during the busy holiday season.

Beit Shemesh Mayor Shmuel Greenberg:

"This year, we are establishing organized markets for the Arba'at Haminim, a move that will improve public order while strengthening our local economy. Partnering directly with commercial centers ensures a stable, centralized marketplace that makes holiday preparation easier for residents, supports local shopkeepers, and keeps our public spaces clean and orderly."

Deputy Mayor and Head of Sanitation & Public Improvement (Shefa), Chanoch Drenger:

"The municipality is making extensive efforts so that purchasing the Arba'at HaMinim and holiday necessities is an enjoyable, well-arranged process for residents, without harming existing year-round business owners. G-d willing, we will continue expanding our collaborations with local commercial centers for the benefit of all Beit Shemesh residents."
