Roadworks will take place around the clock from Saturday night, October 17, through Thursday, October 22, to turn the Nahar HaYarden-Herzog-Ma'apilei-Egoz roundabout into a temporary traffic-light-controlled intersection. Drivers should expect delays, changes to parking and bus stop locations, and a ban on parking along both sides of the road between Lev HaRama Roundabout and Kedushat Aharon.
The Beit Shemesh Municipality has announced temporary traffic changes on Nahar HaYarden Street as part of a project to build public transportation lanes in the area.
The project is being carried out by the Ministry of Transport through Netivei Ayalon, in cooperation with the Beit Shemesh Municipality. As part of the work, the Nahar HaYarden-Herzog-Ma'apilei Egoz roundabout will be converted into a temporary intersection with traffic lights.
The work is scheduled to begin on Saturday night, October 17, 2026, and continue through Thursday, October 22. According to the municipality, work will take place continuously, 24 hours a day, including overnight, for five days. The temporary traffic lights are expected to become operational once the work is completed.
Traffic arrangements around the roundabout and on the roads leading to it will change as the work progresses. Traffic officers and marshals will be stationed in the area to direct drivers and help manage traffic.
According to the municipality, the intersection will not be completely closed. However, drivers should expect local traffic changes and follow the instructions of the teams working on site.
Parking bays and the location of the bus stop will also be adjusted as part of the new traffic arrangements.
Additional changes will take place on Nahar HaYarden Street, along the section between Lev HaRama Roundabout and Kedushat Aharon. As the project moves to Phase B of the traffic arrangements, traffic routes through this section will change.
Parking will not be allowed on either side of the street along this section.
The changes will also affect disabled parking spaces, delivery access, and access to local shops and the event hall.
Residents, business owners, and visitors are asked to plan ahead and make the necessary arrangements for parking, deliveries, and access to their destinations.
The municipality warns that heavy traffic and delays are expected on all roads leading to the intersection. Delays may begin during the preparatory work taking place earlier in the week.
To help avoid delays, drivers are advised to:
Leave earlier and allow extra time for their journey.
Use alternative routes and avoid the work area whenever possible.
Follow road signs and the instructions of traffic officers and marshals.
Plan ahead for changes to parking, the bus stop location, and access to local businesses.
Traffic officers and marshals will be on site throughout the work to direct drivers and help keep everyone safe.
The Beit Shemesh Municipality apologizes for the temporary inconvenience and thanks residents for their patience, understanding, and cooperation.
