Before you fly abroad this summer, it is important to know that your consumer rights are protected by the Aviation Services Law.

The Aviation Services Law regulates the cases in which a passenger is entitled to compensation and assistance due to changes in flight times and cancellations. The law applies to:
- Flights from Israel to abroad
- Flights from abroad to Israel, even if they include a stopover
- Domestic flights.

Delayed flights:
A flight that departed late is a flight that departed at least two hours later than the time specified on the ticket.

• A delay of at least 2 hours from the time stated on the ticket entitles the consumer to receive food, beverages and communication services (2 phone calls, fax service or email).
• A delay of at least 5 hours and less than 8 hours on departure entitles the consumer to a refund of the consideration or an alternative flight ticket of his choice.

A passenger who was offered an alternative flight on the day following the original flight is also entitled to accommodation and transportation services to the hotel.

Cancelled flights:
A cancelled flight is a flight that did not take place or departed at least 8 hours later than the time stated on the ticket.

A passenger whose flight is cancelled is entitled to receive:

• Assistance services.
• An alternative flight ticket or full refund, according to the consumer's choice.
• Financial compensation (compensation ranges between NIS 1,320 and NIS 3,180 depending on the flight distance). The flight operator may reduce half of the compensation if the consumer agrees to receive an alternative flight ticket - with various provisos.

Please note: Passengers who are transferred to another flight that arrives at the same final destination at the time specified on the original flight ticket will not receive compensation.
