Paz is launching a major public campaign at the end of the month in honor of "International No Smoking Day." The initiative serves as public compensation following a 2022 settlement in a 2020 class action lawsuit, which alleged that Paz, Dor Alon, Delek, and Sonol violated anti-smoking laws by allowing smoking and providing ashtrays in the outdoor seating areas next to their convenience stores.

As part of the court-approved compromise, Paz committed to NIS 1.75 million worth of smoking prevention actions. This includes removing ashtrays from stations, funding employee cessation workshops, donating to the Smoking Prevention Fund, and allocating NIS 850,000 for an advertising campaign. Part of this budget includes a collaboration with the Israel Cancer Association alongside the distribution of free coffee and pastry coupons.

The NIS 20 coupon will be available to download on May 31st via the Yellow app and can be redeemed through June 30th. It will appear prominently on the app's opening screen or can be claimed by entering the code "No Smoking" in the coupon toolbar. The benefit excludes large lattes, granitas, and select pastries, and is limited to the first 14,500 redemptions.

Paz is legally obligated to run this benefit for two years and will continue it into next year. A previous round saw low redemption rates due to regional security escalations and technical glitches caused by high traffic. In response, Paz has upgraded the Yellow app's infrastructure to successfully accommodate the high volume of simultaneous coupon orders without error codes.
