In a powerful moment of renewal, Tiferet Yisrael Shul in Beit Shemesh was rededicated on Wednesday, after being completely destroyed in the missile strike in which nine city residents were killed.

Just 48 hours before Rosh Hashanah, and following an intensive effort in recent weeks, the rebuilding of the shul was completed in time for the High Holidays.

The ceremony was attended by Mayor Shmuel Greenberg, Deputy Mayor Moshe Shitrit, Deputy Mayor Nati Gabay, council members Eden Ben Shitrit and Avi Anerntroy, City CEO Eliad Abramchik, members of the bereaved families, the shul’s gabbai, and city officials and professionals who were involved in the rebuilding.

As part of the ceremony, a mezuzah was placed at the entrance to the shul, followed by Mincha. The mezuzah was affixed by Zion Revach, the shul’s gabbai and the father of Gabriel Revach z”l, who was killed in the tragedy.

Revach was personally involved in the restoration of the shul, working together with the city to complete the construction, bring in the necessary equipment and furnishings, and install the Aron Kodesh. The goal was to reopen the shul as quickly as possible.

The rebuilding project was carried out through cooperation between the bereaved families, the shul’s gabbai, the Beit Shemesh Municipality, and the city’s professional teams. Together, they worked to complete the project before Rosh Hashanah, allowing the community to begin the new year in the place where they had prayed for many years.

The rededication carried special meaning in the wake of the tragedy. The shul that was completely destroyed in the missile strike is once again standing and ready to serve as a place of tefillah and community for local residents.

Mayor Shmuel Greenberg said: “A few weeks ago, we promised that the shul would be ready for Rosh Hashanah, and today, just 48 hours before the holiday, we completed the mission. Rebuilding the shul is proof that no one will break us. No one will break the Jewish people.

“I want to thank my aide Yishai Asher, who took this project personally; Deputy Mayor Moshe Shitrit, Deputy Mayor Nati Gabay, the city’s emergency management team, the operations director, and everyone involved in the work, as well as the shul’s gabbai, who worked together with us to rebuild the shul.”

Tzion Revach, father of Gavriel Revach z”l, said: “This is a day of celebration. We have restored the shul to its former glory. This shul stood here for 70 years. The mayor stepped up and made it happen in record time. It is very moving for me, and this is our renewal after the terrible tragedy that took the life of my son, Gavriel.”
