Israeli consumers continued to show strong spending activity in June 2026, setting a new national record for credit card purchases.
According to data released by Shva (Automated Banking Services), total credit card spending during the month reached NIS 51.529 billion- the highest monthly figure ever recorded.
The new record reflects the continued growth in consumer activity and the increasing use of digital payments and credit cards for everyday purchases. From groceries and retail shopping to services, entertainment, and other household expenses, Israelis continued to spend at historically high levels.
Compared with June 2025, when total credit card spending reached NIS 41.694 billion , the latest figure represents a
23.6% increase -an increase of more than NIS 9.8 billion in just one year!
However, experts note that the comparison should be considered carefully, as June 2025 was not a typical month . During that period, Operation Rising Lion affected daily life and economic activity, with restrictions in place for 13 days. These limitations had a direct impact on businesses and consumer behavior, resulting in lower spending levels during that month.
In addition to the monthly spending record, June 2026 also marked a new milestone in average daily credit card spending. Israelis spent an average of NIS 1.718 billion per day, the first time the daily average has crossed the NIS 1.7 billion mark.
The growth was also visible compared with the previous month. In May 2026 , average daily spending stood at NIS 1.691 billion, meaning June recorded an additional 1.6% increase. This indicates that consumer spending continued to rise steadily from month to month, rather than simply reflecting a one-time jump.
The figures highlight the strength of Israel’s consumer market and the continued shift toward cashless payments. They also suggest ongoing recovery and confidence among consumers, despite economic and security-related challenges.
At the same time, because June 2025 was affected by unusual circumstances, additional data from the coming months will be needed to determine whether this level of spending represents a lasting trend or a temporary peak.
