In the wake of this past Sunday’s tragic missile strike, Keren Shemesh, the foundation for Beit Shemesh, is spearheading a massive effort to support affected families and strengthen the city’s resilience.
In coordination with Mayor Shmuel Greenberg and the municipality, the foundation is working around the clock to provide an immediate response to the urgent needs of our community.
Funds Raised: Hundreds of thousands of shekels have already been secured through a public fundraising campaign.
Direct Support: A significant portion of these funds has already been transferred directly to families who lost loved ones or were injured to help with immediate costs.
Global Solidarity: Dozens of donors from Israel and Jewish communities worldwide have already joined the cause.
The foundation is coordinating with city leadership to address both emergency needs and long-term recovery, including:
Family Assistance: Supporting those evacuated from their homes and providing trauma support for children and families.
Emergency Infrastructure: Improving the city's preparedness by acquiring advanced medical and rescue equipment for volunteer units.
Public Safety: Installing new protective shelters in key locations across the city.
Beyond immediate relief, Keren Shemesh is in intensive talks with international philanthropic foundations and Jewish federations in the U.S. to secure the long-term resources needed to keep Beit Shemesh safe and strong.
Yisrael Dantziger, Chairman of Keren Shemesh, said: “Beit Shemesh experienced a very difficult time this week, but it is in times like these that the true strength of a community is revealed. Keren Shemesh is working together with the Beit Shemesh Municipality, the mayor, and the city’s leadership to harness circles of support in Israel and around the world and bring the resources needed to assist the affected families and strengthen the city’s resilience. We are seeing inspiring responses from many donors and partners who wish to stand alongside the residents of the city.”
Ra’anan Eliaz, CEO of the foundation, added: “Immediately following this difficult event, we mobilized to provide a rapid response to affected families and residents in need of assistance. Within just a few days we succeeded in raising initial resources that have already been transferred to families, and we continue to work with donors and organizations in Israel and around the world to bring broad support to Beit Shemesh - support that will help the city cope with the consequences of the incident and emerge from it strengthened”
