The Naming Committee has announced: The 'Kikar HaGvurah' will be named in memory of the Fallen of the Iron Swords War. Also, residents of the city will decide on names for streets in the RBS H / Neve Shamir neighborhood.
The City Naming Committee, chaired by Mayor Shmuel Greenberg, met last week to make significant decisions regarding street names, traffic circles, and sites in the city. The committee discussed naming places that reflect the importance of commemorating the fallen soldiers of the Iron Swords War, as well as the principles of public participation that the mayor strongly believes in, in order to strengthen the sense of belonging and community in the city.
The committee discussed naming new streets in the RBS H2 neighborhood as part of Mayor Shmuel Greenberg's policy of broad public participation and deepening the local sense of belonging. Additionally, a request was discussed to name streets in the Sorek Industrial Park after founders and key figures in the local industry, with the street names being chosen by the the local tenants themselves.
One of the major decisions made was to name a central square in the city "Kikar HaGvurah (The Square of Valor)" in honor of the fallen soldiers of the Iron Swords War. This is the traffic circle at the entrance to Beit Shemesh from Route38. The municipality has committed to invest resources in developing the site and ensuring it serves as a proper and respectful memorial. The traffic circle will be part of several other memorial sites in the city, and their names will be announced after notification to the families.
The committee also decided to create an organized procedure for naming streets, squares, and parks to regulate the matter in a clear and transparent way. Additionally, the committee decided on names for Tipat Halav clinics in Ramat Beit Shemesh D and Neve Shamir, including: Tamar in memory of Rebbetzin Tamar Steinman, Shulamit in memory of Rebbetzin Shulamit Badani, Devorah in memory of Rebbetzin Devorah Bergman, and Rachel in memory of Rebbetzin Rachel Neria.
Mayor Shmuel Greenberg said "We are making progress in naming locations within the city after the fallen soldiers, and the names will be revealed once the families have been notified. The decisions of the Naming Committee reflect our commitment to creating a respectful and community-based public space, and I thank the committee members for their important and professional work."
