Major Transportation Upgrade Coming to Beit Shemesh: 735 Million Shekel Investment

A major transportation upgrade is coming to Beit Shemesh. The Ministry of Transport, Beit Shemesh Municipality, and Ayalon Highways have signed (Yesterday July 7th)  a 735 million Shekel agreement to improve public transportation infrastructure throughout the growing city.

The project aims to create a faster, more reliable transportation network and provide solutions for the city’s rapid population growth.

As part of the plan, approximately 28 kilometers of dedicated public transportation lanes will be built along major roads, including Levi Eshkol Street, Nahar HaYarden, Yeshayahu HaNavi, Nahar HaYarkon, Yigal Alon, and additional main routes.

These dedicated lanes will give buses priority over private vehicles, helping reduce delays, improve reliability, and shorten travel times for passengers.

The project will also include major upgrades to traffic infrastructure, including converting some roundabouts into smart traffic intersections, installing advanced traffic management systems, and giving public transportation priority at traffic lights.

New transportationhubs and operational parking areas will also be built, allowing the city to expand public transportation services and operate larger-capacity buses.

The project also includes the development of approximately 4 kilometers of new bike paths.

In addition, a digital enforcement system will be introduced to help keep public transportation lanes clear and improve traffic management.

Transportation Minister Miri Regev said the agreement will help "prepare for Beit Shemesh’s growth" by building the infrastructure needed for the city’s future.

Mayor Shmuel Greenberg said the investment is an important step for a rapidly growing city and will improve accessibility, quality of life, and connections between neighborhoods.

The project is expected to significantly strengthen public transportation in Beit Shemesh and provide residents with faster, safer, and more convenient travel options.
