Beit Shemesh Mayor Shmuel Greenberg announced the appointment of Ohad Segev as Director General of the Beit Shemesh Municipality. Segev's appointment will be confirmed at the first council meeting tomorrow, Wednesday.
According to the statement issued by the spokesperson's office: "Segev has extensive experience in public service in general and in the sphere of local government in particular. He was Director General of the Acco Municipality, where he transformed the failing municipality into an advanced, innovative and groundbreaking municipality - he led a comprehensive reform in the organization, and managed many significant projects. Later, as Director General of the Haifa Municipality, he led significant projects worth billions of shekels."
In the recent elections, Segev ran for mayor of Acco, where he lives, against the incumbent mayor Amichai, who won by a narrow margin.
The match between Greenberg and Segev was created by Haifa City Council member Michi Alper of Degel HaTorah, who recommended Segev to Greenberg from his acquaintance with him as Director General of the Haifa Municipality.
Mayor Shmuel Greenberg said: "I congratulate Ohad Segev on his appointment to the position. He brings with him two decades of rich experience in the world of local government and I am confident in his ability to advance the city and municipality to the places we aspire to and aim for, first and foremost improving service to residents and advancing the important development plans we face. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing Director General, Yohanan Mali, for his intensive work on behalf of the residents. Since my election, Yochanan has stood by me with dedication and helped and assisted in everything required, and for that I am grateful and wish him success in his future endeavors."
The incoming Director General of the Municipality, Ohad Segev said: "I thank Mayor Shmuel Greenberg for the vote of confidence and for the opportunity to take part in such important work for the city of Beit Shemesh and its residents under the mayor's vision. Working in the public sector is a mission, and I am happy to take part in the momentum of Beit Shemesh, which is known as the city of the future and one of the cities with the greatest potential in Israel."
Ohad Segev, 53 is married with four children, he grew up and currently lives in Acco.
