Announcement from the Ministry of Labor: Starting this April, the minimum wage in Israel will increase to NIS 5,880.02 (gross) per month, which is an increase of NIS 309.
The minimum wage was last raised to NIS 5,571.75 (gross) on April 1, 2023.
In hourly terms, the minimum wage is currently NIS 30.61 per hour, and from April 1 it will rise to NIS 32.30 per hour. For the calculation of the minimum wage, a working month is 182 hours of work.
Raising the minimum wage will benefit hundreds of thousands of workers on the one hand, but will also deepen inflation on the other. The employers associations opposed raising the minimum wage, which would make it difficult for them during the war, and therefore the implementation of this increase was delayed. Now, despite opposition from the business sector, Minister Minister Yoav Ben Tzur has signed the order.
The minimum wage is different for some employees such as youth, security and guard workers, workers in event halls and gardens, and people with disabilities.
For more information, see the Ministry of Labor website
Raising the minimum wage causes wages to creep upwards, even for thousands of workers earning wages slightly higher than the minimum wage, and such a gradual process is expected this summer as well.
