More Streets Eligible for Firearm Licensing in Beit Shemesh

Following extensive efforts by Mayor Shmuel Greenberg with the Ministry of National Security and the Israel Police, yesterday the municipality received a letter confirming the expansion of the list of streets in Beit Shemesh eligible for firearm licensing.
The decision, made after a professional review by the Security Division, is expected to strengthen the sense of personal security for many city residents.

The letter to the Mayor stated:
"Following your request to add more streets in Beit Shemesh as an ‘eligible locality’ for firearm licensing, the Security Division reviewed the request and recommended adding the streets listed below."

The newly added streets include:

• Neighborhood “Mishkafayim”: HaRav Mordechai Tzemach Eliyahu, HaRav Brook, HaAdaret, HaRashar Hirsch, HaRav Avraham Shapira, HaRav Kook, HaNatziv, Hirsch, HaRav Yitzhak Kaduri, HaRav Yaakov Yosef, HaRav HaAdmor HaChalutz, HaRav Ben Zion Baruch.

• Ramat Beit Shemesh D1: Rav Zavid, Rav Ulla, Rav Hamnuna, Rav Tanchuma, Rav Pappa, Rav Ashi, Rav Zira, Abbaye, Rava, Ravina.

• Ramat Beit Shemesh D2: Rav Sheila, Reish Lakish, Mar Ukva, Rav Hamnuva, Rav Chanan, Rav Menashia

• Ramat Beit Shemesh D3: Pompadita Street.

• Ramat Beit Shemesh D4: Rabbi Berekiah, Rav Chelkia bar Tovi, Rav Chanina, Rabbi Yitzhak Nappaha, Rabbi Chizkiya, Ifla, Yibba Saba, Rav Kahana, Rabbi Chelbo.

This decision takes effect and will be integrated into the Ministry of National Security’s systems by August 24th, 2025.
Residents of the listed streets must obtain an updated proof-of-residency certificate from the local authority as a requirement for firearm license eligibility.

In January last year, the following streets in Beit Shemesh were defined as eligible. They are in RBS Gimmel, Daled and Hey: השלושה, חגואל, יונתן, פרנק, פרנקל, סנש, אהרונסון, קליין, אלבז, האחים, יאיר, חביבה רייק, אליהו הנביא, חזון עובדיה, חולדה הנביאה, נתן הנביא, אהבת שלום, יונה בן אמתי, יחזקאל הנביא, חבקוק הנביא, עזרא, יואל הנביא, אחיה השילוני, משה רבנו, נריה הנביא, ירמיהו הנביא, ריש לקיש, זכריה הנביא, רב המנונא, רמת עזרא, רב חנן, מר עוקבא, אביי, רב עולא, רב זביד, רבינא, רבא, תלמוד ירושלמי, רב עמרם, רב אבדימי, שדרות האמוראים, נהרדע, רב מרי, תלמוד בבלי, בר קפרא, דובב מישרים, שפע חיים, איילת השחר

It is important to note that living or working in an eligible area does not in itself grant the right to issue a firearms license but only improves the chances of receiving eligibility.

Mayor Shmuel Greenberg said "I thank the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, for his quick response and cooperation with the Beit Shemesh Municipality. Expanding the list is an important step in strengthening our residents’ personal security, and we will continue to work resolutely for their safety."
