New Service from the Population & Immigration Authority - Self-service machines to apply for a passport or biometric identity card
The Population and Immigration Authority is introducing self-service kiosks that let the public apply for biometric ID cards or passports - quickly, easily, and without waiting for staff assistance.
82 self-service kiosks, located in 26 offices across the country enable you to receive service independently, at a time that is convenient for you. The kiosks will allow for an additional 2,500 appointments per day.
In order to use the service, the Population and Immigration Authority has set up a separate appointment system just for the kiosks. So far, about 35,000 people have signed up.
To check eligibility for using the self-service kiosks, applicants should enter their details at https://govisit.gov.il/en/app/auth/login.
The system will then automatically verify eligibility.
Currently, hundreds of appointments are being added to the Population Administration offices for the convenience of those who wish to apply for documents.
At this stage the self-service kiosks are only for renewal or replacement of biometric documents, and not for the issuance of a first passport or Teudat Zehut.
In these kiosks, photography is of very important to ensure proper and quick identification. Here are the golden rules for the most accurate and successful photo:
~ Please note that the applicant can not be wearing uniform or a hat in the pictures.
~ Look straight at the camera
~ Eyes open
~ Mouth closed
~ Standing at the required distance
~ No sunglasses
Please see the pictures above for the full instructions for taking the pictures and for the fingerprint scanning.
