A New Neighborhood in Beit Shemesh for 66,000 Residents is being planned.
A plan to establish a new neighborhood with 12,800 housing units for the Charedi community in Beit Shemesh will be brought to review at the Jerusalem District Planning and Building Committee next week. The neighborhood, spanning 930 dunams, will feature residential, commercial, and public facilities along Nehar Dan. It aims to create a seamless connection between old and new Beit Shemesh, linking northern and southern neighborhoods.
The residential buildings will range from 10 to 15 stories, while office buildings will reach up to 18 stories. The neighborhood will also include open public spaces, educational and community institutions, 80 synagogues, and two mikvahs for every 2,000 housing units.
According to a development plan prepared for the development company Netzba, the neighborhood will cater to the growing Charedi population, housing approximately 66,500 residents, including 34,500 children of school age. This will require the construction of 1,552 classrooms and 126 educational institutions.
The plan, initiated by Parchei Ramat Beit Shemesh and led by architect Yigal Levi, is scheduled for its initial review next week to determine the need for an environmental impact assessment.
