Empowering Medical Professionals with a Haredi Background
The Netzach Medical Mechina is a first-of-its-kind preparatory program designed specifically for men and women from a Haredi background who aspire to become doctors. Recognizing that the path to medical school in Israel is exceptionally competitive and often culturally challenging for the Haredi community, this program serves as a bridge. It is a joint project with the Jerusalem College of Technology (JCT), also known as Machon Lev.
Comprehensive Academic & Cultural Support
The program is intensive, typically spanning three semesters over 15 months. It combines high-level science and academic coursework with a curriculum tailored to the specific needs of Haredi students:
Academic Prep: It prepares students for the rigorous entrance examinations and the "Mora" (personality and ethical assessment) tests required by Israeli medical schools.
Cultural Integration: The program includes workshops on cultural competence and sessions on Halacha (Jewish law) and medical ethics, ensuring students can maintain their religious lifestyle while serving the broader Israeli society.
Elite Mentorship: Students who are accepted into medical school following the Mechina receive continued support and mentorship from Haredi doctors throughout their years of study.
Who Is It For?
To be eligible, candidates must already hold a relevant first degree, preferably in a scientific field (such as Nursing, Biotechnology, or Physical Therapy), and demonstrate the high aptitude required for medical studies. By equipping talented Haredi individuals with the tools to enter the medical profession, Netzach aims to strengthen the Israeli healthcare system and provide high-quality medical care within their own communities.
Core courses in the preparatory program: Students will complete the seven courses required by the faculty: Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Microbiology, Biostatistics, Genetics, and Physiology. The courses are taught by the best lecturers of the Bioinformatics Department from the Lev Academic Center, under the direction of the Academic Director, Dr. Sarah Ganut. The courses are taught via Zoom in the afternoons, twice a week. The classes are recorded, and attendance is not mandatory. Please note that the exams are held face-to-face.
When do we start?
The next academic year is expected to begin in April 2026 and continue until the end of the second semester in May 2027 (estimated dates).
