Last Thursday, a new daily ridership record was set, with 361,255 passengers traveling on 675 trains. The previous record, also set in 2025, stood at 357,773 passengers on March 16, 2025.
Minister of Transport, Miri Regev, stated:
"Israel Railways is a central backbone of the national transportation system, and we will continue to strengthen it as part of the transportation revolution that connects all parts of the country and eliminates the concept of periphery."
This milestone continues the upward trend in passenger numbers observed over the past year and is the result of:
Israel Railways notes that 2025 saw the highest demand in its history, with all five of the busiest operational days occurring this year, including three days during the Hanukkah holiday. Additionally, in October 2025, a record average daily ridership of 298,000 passengers was recorded—the highest ever measured for that period.
Investments in the railway system and expanded services are leading to more passengers, a better travel experience, and the strengthening of public transportation as part of the national system.
