Wondering where to throw away old electrical devices?
The Municipality of Beit Shemesh in cooperation with the מ.א.י Corporation operates a number of collection points for electronic waste and batteries to enable all residents of the city to separate and recycle electronic waste and batteries.
What is e-waste?
Any device in which electricity flows or runs on batteries, electronic equipment that has broken down or been replaced, light bulbs and batteries. ie, phones, computer monitors, printers, cables, microwaves, kettles etc.
Where can you recycle in the city?
1) Derech Rav Spector St on the square near Super Hatzlacha in Beit Shemesh
2) Nahal Ayalon St, RBS A in the parking lot of Ayalon park, at the bottom before the junction with Nahal Kishon.
3) There is also a drop-off point in Ikea beside the exit, with separate bins for batteries, lightbulbs, electronic etc.
Why recycle?
Electronic waste contains many substances such as iron, steel and heavy metals, which may seep into the soil, spread toxic gasses into the air, pollute groundwater and thus harm us and the environment around us.
