A large cleanup operation took place last week in the Sheinfeld neighborhood and nearby open areas, as part of a joint effort between the city’s Sanitation Department and the Sheinfeld neighborhood committee. The goal of the project was to improve the appearance of public spaces, clean up different areas around the neighborhood, and provide better service for local residents.

The cleanup project began after Dalia Cohen, a Sheinfeld resident, spoke with David Nisimov, head of the city’s cleaning services, and shared concerns and requests raised by residents. Following the conversation, the city arranged a special cleanup team that arrived with the necessary equipment and carried out extensive cleaning work in several locations throughout the neighborhood and surrounding areas.

The project was coordinated by Sima Peretz, the city inspector responsible for Sheinfeld, who worked closely with the teams on the ground and helped make sure the cleanup was carried out successfully.

This initiative is part of a larger effort by the Beit Shemesh Municipality’s Operations Administration and Sanitation Department to improve cleanliness throughout the city. In recent weeks, expanded cleaning teams have been working in areas that have not received thorough cleaning for many years, carrying out sweeping, washing, and general maintenance to improve public spaces.

Shmuel Rotshas, Head of the Operations Administration, explained that the city’s ongoing connection with neighborhood committees and residents helps the municipality better understand local needs and focus its work in the areas that need the most attention.

“Residents who care about their neighborhood and take initiative help make their surroundings much cleaner,” said Rotshas. “This does not replace the regular work done by the city, but we encourage residents to share ideas and work together with us on projects like this. We will continue to come to every area that needs attention.”
