Summer is almost over? Here is everything you need to know ahead of the 5787 (2026–2027) school year 🎓
💰 Parental Payments: Mandatory vs. Voluntary Fees
🫂 Personal Accident Insurance - Coverage at Home and on Vacation Every student in Israel is insured by the local authority under a Personal Accident Insurance policy. This insurance provides 24/7 coverage for bodily injury resulting from an accident anywhere in the country, even if the accident is unrelated to school activities (e.g., injuries sustained at a public park in the afternoon or at home during summer break). Coverage extends internationally when participating in activities sponsored by the educational institution or local authority.
🎒 Backpack Safety A child’s backpack (including textbooks and pencil case) must not exceed 15% of their total body weight.
❌ No More "Zero Hour" (Sh'at Efes) Holding "zero hour" classes in middle schools and high schools is strictly prohibited. School begins no earlier than 08:00 AM. (Religious schools may start earlier for morning prayers only, but no earlier than 07:00 AM).
👧🏻 Adjustment Period for Preschoolers (Ages 3–4)
👕 Forgot a School Uniform Shirt? Schools are strictly prohibited from punishing a student or sending them home for arriving without a school uniform.
🚽 Restroom Access Students must be permitted to use the restroom during class according to their personal needs, coordinated with the teacher, to prevent potential health issues.
📵 Phone Restrictions in Elementary and Middle Schools In elementary and middle schools, the use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited throughout the entire school day, including during recess.
Wishing all students a successful school year! ❤️
