Test runs are starting on the new Green Line - L3 of the Jerusalem light rail. The runs are conducted for checking systems and quality control, and they take place around the clock. During the runs, the train will not carry passengers, but this is a significant step towards opening the line to the general public.
Jerusalem's Green Line is opening in stages, with the first section from Malcha to HaTurim expected to start service in May 2026.
The full Green Line, connecting Gilo to the Hebrew University, is projected to fully open in stages between 2027-2028, significantly expanding Jerusalem's light rail network. See the maps above.
