A new reform in public transport fares, the 'Transportation Justice' Reform started today, Monday March 25th, 2024.
The reform includes significant discounts that some 2.8 million Israelis will benefit from, and changes are expected to save up to thousands of shekels a year on public transport for the average Israeli family.
The new discounts include:
~ FREE TRAVEL for discharged soldiers and those completing National Service for an entire year from the date of completion of their service.
~ 33% discount for young people aged 18-26 on monthly passes - until their 27th birthday.
~ 50% discount on monthly passes for people with disabilities and those eligible for National Insurance.
~ 50% discount on monthly pass for areas defined as geographically peripheral localities with low socioeconomic status. For many government initiatives Beit Shemesh is considered a peripheral city, but in this case it is not included in the list provided by Rav Kav: https://ravkavonline.co.il/he/ravkav
The plan is also intended to lower the age of senior citizens who get FREE public transportation from 75 to pension age (67 for men and 62 for women), but this move will not take effect at the outset, only in a few months.
For more information on the reform, the public is invited to call the Ministry of Transport's hotline *4515.
