Israelis can travel with a valid foreign passports until 31st December 2025

In light of the high demand for passport renewal, the Population and Immigration Authority has announced that Israelis holding a foreign passport will be allowed to travel on a valid foreign passport even if their Israeli passport is out of date – this is on a one-time basis only. This directive will be in effect until the end of December 2025.

Israelis who do not hold dual citizenship (or those who don't have a current foreign passport) will need to keep trying to make an appointment to renew their passport, and may need to travel some distance to go to a different office.

NOTE: If your current (out of date) passport is biometric, then you can renew it online - you don't need to go to the passport office!

Important Tip: Even thought it seems like there are no appointments available for the coming months, every morning new appointments are opened for that day or the next. Log on to the website of Misrad HaPnim early in the morning (7:30 - 8am) and you may find  appointments available that day! This is the website to make an appointment: https://myvisit.com/#!/home/signin/

Remember that the passports are now cheaper - the discounted 'winter' rate' will be valid from Friday November 1st, 2024 until February 28th, 2025.
Once you have paid online for the passport, you have until the end of April 2025 to apply for it at the passport office.

In an emergency you can get a new passport immediately at Ben Gurion airport on presentation of a ticket for a flight within 48 hours and receive a temporary passport that is valid for one year.

If you have an expired Israeli passport or a Teudat Maavar, please travel with this as well. If not, please keep your Teudat Zehut with you.
