Press Release from the Iriya:
Traffic Flow Improvement Project in Neve Shamir
The Beit Shemesh Municipality is launching a major road upgrade at the entrance to the Neve Shamir neighborhood, aimed at easing congestion and improving traffic flow during peak hours.
As part of the project, the main roundabout at the neighborhood entrance is being converted into a two-lane traffic circle, enabling smoother and safer vehicle movement in and out of the area. In addition, another nearby roundabout is being upgraded as part of a broader effort to improve accessibility for residents of Neve Shamir and surrounding neighborhoods.
These traffic enhancements are expected to benefit not only Neve Shamir residents but also those living in the RBS A and RBS Gimmel neighborhoods, who face significant congestion every morning at the same main junction when exiting the city.
Mayor Shmuel Greenberg said: "We are constantly working to reduce traffic congestion and improve residents' quality of life. Upgrading the intersections at the neighborhood entrance is part of a broader plan aimed at easing traffic in the immediate term."
Dan Ohayon, Director of the Execution and Infrastructure Division, added: "The combination of two dual-lane roundabouts is expected to significantly improve the neighborhood's exit capacity and address the main bottleneck affecting traffic throughout the area during morning hours."
