Unfortunately Seder night is a busy night for burglars, and over the years too many residents of Beit Shemesh have returned home from a lovely seder with friends or family, to find their homes broken into and valuables stolen. Sometimes thieves have taken advantage of the quiet streets to go from home to home in a building, or along a street.
The police have shared some useful tips to help ensure that your home will be safe while you are out on Seder night.
Do not leave a front door key under the doormat, or in a plant pot or in the electricity cupboard - burglars know to look there!
- Close your windows tightly and lock them if possible. Make sure that any sliding doors are fully locked.
- Make sure that the entry to your home is well lit
- Keep an eye open for strangers in your neighborhood who are loitering about and watching the street - call the police if you are concerned.
- Make sure that your house alarm is set if you have one.
- Keep all your valuables and jewelry in a safe if you have one, or in a locked cupboard if not.
The national police hotline is 100
We wish you a safe and quiet Seder night and Chag Pesach Kasher veSameach!
