If you are looking for somewhere interesting to visit with your family, Beit Guvrin is a big national park, about 22km from Beit Shemesh, with plenty to explore.
Beit Guvrin – Maresha National Park consists of numerous caves and an amphitheater and fortress. The Bible refers to the City of Maresha during the First Temple period.
You can explore the caves, see the oil press and Mosaics and see the remains of a Roman amphitheater and bath-house. The park is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
Distances between caves are large - you can walk a lot, or drive between them. Please note that there are a lot of steps here so the site is not accessible for those with strollers or wheelchairs.
