RECOMMENDED
From now on, a preliminary alert will be issued via the Home Front Command app approximately 3–5 minutes before the sirens are activated, to take cover in a protected space, in the event of a suspected rocket or missile attack from Yemen toward Israeli territory.
This early notification is the result of operational efforts by the Home Front Command, aimed at giving citizens additional time to prepare and reach the safest available shelter.
How the preliminary alert works:
The early warning will be delivered through the Home Front Command app with a notification sound (not the standard siren) and a message on your phone stating:
"Alerts are expected in your area in the coming minutes."
At the same time, an official IDF Spokesperson announcement will be released, noting a suspected rocket or missile attack from Yemen and urging the public to follow Home Front Command instructions.
The preliminary guideline will be received approximately 3 to 5 minutes before receiving the alert guiding us to enter the protected space.
Use this time to start getting ready for the imminent alert, for example by choosing a better protected space, making sure that the window and door of the protected room are closed, or postponing leaving the house or workplace.
For example:
• If you are in a house that does not include a protected room (Mamad), but there is a common shelter that can be reached within a few minutes, go there.
• If you are driving and can reach a nearby building, you can use the extra time to continue driving and reach a building.
• If you are in an urban area that we don’t know, or in an open space – you will have time to search for a nearby building.
• If your children are playing outside – you can call them to return home, or inform them to enter a close-by building.
• If you planned to shower, or leave the house or workplace, you can wait and postpone these actions until the event is over.
Please note: The preliminary guideline does not require entering a protected space but is intended to provide additional time and information for people to be alert and prepared in advance to ensure better protection, as well as to improve their sense of personal security. Only if a siren is activated in your area, you need to enter the protected space in accordance with the time available to reach shelter, and remain there for 10 minutes.
The preliminary guideline will be received via the Home Front Command app in areas under threat based on the location and areas of interest that were defined, by an update sound (without a rising and falling alert) and by a notification message on the mobile phone, which will read that "in the coming minutes, alerts are expected in your area." In addition, the guideline will be received on the National Emergency Portal (this website) and on the Home Front Command's Telegram channels.
