Radio Kol Chai does a weekly supermarket survey to see which was the cheapest place to buy a cart full of food, produce and household goods.
This week Yesh Chesed was the cheapest supermarket, followed by Rami Levy and then Osher Ad.
There was a difference of 74.5 shekels between the cheapest and the most expensive stores!
In Yesh Chesed the basket of items cost NIS 481.10.
In Rami Levy the price was NIS 491.40
In Osher Ad, the price was NIS 503.65
The most expensive supermarket of the four tested was Shuk Mehadrin, where the price was NIS 555.40.
The difference between the price of the cart in Shuk Mehadrin and Yesh Chesed was NIS 74.5, which is a 15% difference!
The food products with the biggest differences between the stores:
Fresh carrots cost NIS 2.80 per kilo in Rami Levy, and NIS 4.90 per kilo in Yesh Chesed.
For a package of Osem Petitim, Yesh Chesed were the cheapest, with a price of NIS 3.90 while in the Shuk Mehadrin it cost NIS 7.40 - almost double!
The product with the biggest price difference was Osem breadcrumbs - in Yesh Chesed they will cost you only NIS 3.90, while in Shuk Mehadrin the price is NIS 9.50, a difference of almost two and a half times for the exact same product!
Please note that the survey did not take into account club promotions and credit card points. It did include promotions that required a minimum purchase of one hundred shekels.
