Is your Teudat Zehut Going to Expire?

In 2022, hundreds of thousands of Teudot Zehut issued before 2012 will expire.

Almost a decade ago, in 2013, the Ministry of the Interior began issuing biometric identity cards (Teudot Zehut). These Teudot Zehut, unlike the old ones, are given a validity of five or ten years. Anyone who has not yet been issued a biometric Teudat Zehut and still holds the old Teudat Zehut will have his Teudat Zehut expire in August of 2022. After the expiration date, the old Teudat Zehut will not be be valid for use. 

What to do?
If you are not sure when you received your Teudat Zehut, check it out.  It has a date of issue on it. 
If you already have a biometric Teudat Zehut, it has an expiry date as well.

Your current Teudat Zehut card.

Does it involve monetary cost?
No! But if a Teudat Zehut is lost or stolen, it will cost you 120 NIS.
