Israelis can travel with a valid foreign passports until 30th of September 2026.

In light of the high demand for passport renewal, the Population and Immigration Authority has announced that Israelis holding a foreign passport will be allowed to travel on a valid foreign passport even if their Israeli passport is out of date – this is on a one-time basis only. This directive will be in effect until the end of September 2026.  You must show your expired Israeli passport when returning to Israel with the expired one.

Israelis who do not hold dual citizenship (or those who don't have a valid foreign passport) will need to or show a valid ETA or must make an appointment to renew their passport,  and may need to travel some distance to go to a different office.

NOTE: If your current (out of date) passport is biometric, then you can renew it online - you don't need to go to the passport office!

Important Tip: Even thought it seems like there are no appointments available for the coming months, every morning new appointments are opened for that day or the next. Log on to the website of Misrad HaPnim early in the morning (7:30 - 8am) and you may find  appointments available that day! This is the website to make an appointment: https://myvisit.com/#!/home/signin/

In an emergency you can get a new passport immediately (for an additional fee) at Ben Gurion airport on presentation of a ticket for a flight within 48 hours and receive a temporary passport that is valid for one year .

If you have an expired Israeli passport or a Teudat Maavar, please travel with this as well. If not, please keep your Teudat Zehut with you.
