Good news for young couples who live in Beit Shemesh - Deputy Mayor Shimon Goldberg announced yesterday "Soon thousands of new apartments will be available on the market, some of will be part of the Mechir La Mishtaken (housing lottery) at a subsidized price, and local residents will have priority"
He presented a huge plan for the construction of 4,500 homes units for the ultra-orthodox population in RBS H2, which is next to Neve Shamir (RBS H1), and extends up to the RBS D3, and RBS Gimmel.
There was some delay due to the many archaeological findings and burial caves that were discovered in the area.
The neighborhood was designed to high standards with extensive provision of parks, kindergartens, public buildings and commercial areas. The planning will be according to the nature of the population in the neighborhood and the needs of the residents.
In accordance with the agreements with the Ministry of Construction and Housing, in a few months thousands of new apartments will begin to be marketed, a significant part of which will be part of the Mechir LaMIshtaken project targeted for young couples, while giving priority to couples from Beit Shemesh.
Chairman of the Planning and Construction Committee and holder of the engineering portfolio, Deputy Mayor Rabbi Shimon Goldberg said: "This is great news for the residents of Beit Shemesh who will receive priority in the housing lottery, after a long period of time when there was no new land marketing in the city and created a severe shortage in the housing sector when the supply ran out in the existing neighborhoods. The plan to establish the new neighborhood will provide an immediate answer for young couples and city residents who need bigger homes."
Goldberg added, "In a decade, Beit Shemesh will be one of the largest cities in Israel, and therefore we have a great responsibility in planning the new neighborhoods and the remaining construction areas in the city, so that they have inviting, high-quality neighborhoods, with careful planning, infrastructure, public spaces, parks, sidewalks, educational buildings, commercial, employment and industrial areas, and everything a progressive neighborhood needs. We are forward-looking, looking to the future, as befits a city with a past, present and, above all, a bright future."
