Lema’an Achai Emergency Operation: Hundreds of Thousands of Shekels in Vouchers Raised and Distributed to Families Affected by the Missile Strike in Beit Shemesh
The Lema’an Achai organization led an emergency relief initiative this past week to assist families affected by the missile strike in Beit Shemesh who lost much of their belongings.
The initiative was made possible primarily through donations from friends and supporters of Lema’an Achai in Israel and around the world.
This past Thursday, led by Lema’an Achai’s International Director, Rabbi Avrohom Leventhal, Lema'an Achai visited hotels where the evacuated families are currently staying, together with Deputy Mayor of Beit Shemesh Rena Hollander and City Councilwoman Tami Zussman.
As part of the initiative, the families received vouchers worth hundreds of thousands of shekels, enabling them to purchase clothing and essential personal items after losing their possessions in the strike. The vouchers were distributed with the support and donation of Fox CEO Mr. Harel Wiesel. The decision to provide vouchers rather than ready-made supplies was intentional:
"The first step in helping a family rebuild is restoring their dignity and their ability to choose. The vouchers allow each family to purchase exactly what they need in a way that preserves their independence and dignity."
Lema’an Achai emphasized that the organization will continue to accompany the families in the coming period as part of its ongoing work supporting families in crisis.
